Did dr. drew pinsky kill dj am with a prescription medication found next to his dead body?

Did Dr. Drew Pinsky supply the prescriptions that killed dj am?

At the dr. sober companion offices, we were trying to figure out why dr. drew pinsky came out so quickly with a statement about his work with dj am. (Adam Goldstein)

Was this pre-emptive because of a prescription pill bottle found next to the dead body of dj am Adam Goldstein, that may have been prescribed with dr. drew pinsky's name as the prescribing doctor written on it?

DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, was found dead in his apartment Friday evening. A crack pipe and prescription pills were found in the Manhattan apartment, said a law enforcement official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

Dr. Drew Pinsky made some startling comments to the Associated Press writer Colleen Long, that were very alarming to us at dr. sober companion.

Dr. Drew Pinsky made such hastily made quick statements, which may have caused more damage, than the damage control, that dr. drew pinsky was trying to erase.

Dr. Drew Pinsky said Saturday:

"pain medications likely led disc jockey DJ AM, a former drug addict who died suddenly Friday, away from his sober path." "It very slowly and subtly reawakens addiction"

Dr
. Drew Pinsky said: "I'm not saying it was inappropriately prescribed, I'm saying he didn't know the risks." Was this statement because Dr. Drew Pinsky prescribed the pain medications?

Why does dr. drew pinsky continue explaining pain medication as part of the cause of dj am's death? Dr. Drew Pinsky said he believed pain medication Adam Goldstein took for injuries sustained in the plane crash that required two skin graft surgeries reawakened his addiction to drugs. Again, dr. sober companion ask the question, were the pain medications prescribed by dr. drew pinsky?

Dr. Sober Companion, continues to stress to the media and to the public, that drug and alcohol addiction is a confidential matter, and should not be glamorized with a TV reality show. Nor should the advice of a TV doctor be followed, as fact.

Dr. Drew Pinsky
is the host of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab," where he helps troubled stars get off of drugs and alcohol. He has a zero percent success rate as all of the celebrities relapsed, and should not be labeled the national expert on drug addiction.

While we are uncertain of Dr. Drew Pinsky's involvement as a consultant of a new TV show about drug addiction on MTV, that DJ AM had just finished, it is more than possible that Dr. Drew Pinsky and Adam Goldstein were working very closely.

The show centered on rehab, was to start airing in October on MTV, and was called "Gone Too Far," featuring Adam Goldstein staging interventions with young people battling their own addictions. MTV said it has not decided on the show's future.

Dr. Drew Pinsky said of Adam Goldstein, he had long preached sobriety and openly discussed his earlier addictions to drugs including crack cocaine and Ecstasy with me.

It was based on DJ AM's previous addiction, that startled us the most about dr. drew pinsky's statement:
DJ AM had said:
"I am a recovering drug addict. When I see it and I'm in their room and the paraphernalia and the whole lifestyle and everything, I still, 11 years later, have that little thing in my head that starts thinking, 'Oh, where's that? I wonder what that is?'"

"Dr. Drew Pinsky laughed at the notion that being close to addicts may have caused Adam Goldstein to relapse, even though Adam Goldstein admitted to the associated press of being terrified at watching people go through harrowing addictions and it made him recall his own battles.

"That's not in any way the kind of thing that leads to someone relapsing," he said.

Dr. Sober Companion begs to differ.

Being in a room full of addicts, drives the addict to think about using every day. Even if an addict, has not used in several years. Once exposed to drug talk, he cannot resist. This is why dr. sober companion is against 12 step, and removing enablers and especially a room full of addicts from the environment of our clients, who are all talking about drugs and their addictions.

Group therapy led by a clown

We are in shock, how insensitive dr. drew pinsky is to the cold reality that group therapy encourages drug use. For him to laugh at the notion is irresponsible and just plain ignorant to us.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, tries to distance himself from DJ AM

Much in the same way he tried to distance himself from the deaths and rapes at the Las Encinas, an addiction rehab hospital where he was the clinical director. Dr. Drew Pinsky expressed his grief over the loss of Adam Goldstein. He said he considered himself a friend of the late star, and though they had not spoken for "a while," the two relayed messages to each other through friends and were "very close."

Pinsky called Goldstein a model for people going through recovery and said the disc jockey was selfless when it came to helping others overcome their addictions.
"He sponsors other people, and in his words, will go to the mat supporting people on their recovery," Pinsky said.

Dr. Drew pinsky who has been linked to the deaths of several drug addicted people at his hospital where he was the chief in charge, as well as his zero percent recovery rate of any of his celebrity clients on his popular celebrity rehab reality tv show, is still being considered the national expert for drug addiction and recovery.

Even though dr. Drew should not be classified as the foremost addiction specialist and a national expert, this has not stopped the media from putting dr. Drew on a perch and giving him a voice.

Now it has come to light, that dr. Drew may have played a part in the overdose death of yet another young person.

What we have learned about dr. drew pinsky and his methods, through recent comments made by dr. Drew pinsky in the news prove his methods don't work, and are actually harmful to anyone who tries them. re: Pinsky laughed at the notion that being close to addicts may have caused Goldstein to relapse.
"That's not in any way the kind of thing that leads to someone relapsing," he said.

Dr. Sober Companion strongly disagrees with dr. drew pinsky who laughs at the notion that as part of an addicts prescribed treatment, where the addict is placed in a room full of other addicts , he says, this won't cause someone like dj am, to return to his desire for drug use.

Dr. sober companion would also, never ever send a drug addict to someone trying to quit. Dr. Sober companion would keep all enablers including friends and family away from the client we are trying to help. Unlike the failed techniques of dr. drew pinsky who said: "DJ AM was a very supportive recovery person."

Pinsky recalled how when Crazytown's Seth "Shifty" Binzer, a former patient on "Celebrity Rehab," was going through his recovery process, Pinsky urged him to reach out to DJ AM, who was a former member of the defunct band, to help learn how to stay sober."He was someone I referred people to to learn about recovery," said Pinsky. (Is Dr. Drew's techniques of sending addicts to DJ AM the reason he was found dead with a crack pipe and pill bottles by his side?)

Which is why Dr. Drew Pinsky finds the circumstances of DJ AM's death so shocking: "It was so much of a surprise I have a hard time believing it."

Now I have to refresh your memory about what dr. drew pinsky was involved in, concerning the deaths and rapes of several patients.

When Alex Clyburn entered Las Encinas, a clinical registered nurse at the facility told the family he would be monitored every 15 minutes in the hours after he was admitted, but his mother said that didn't happen. According to the Los Angeles Times, the mental health worker involved in Clyburn's case has since been fired.

"He was absolutely not checked on every 15 minutes," said Arline Clyburn. "We left him at 10 p.m. in the evening. He was at 7:15 in the morning found stiff, rigid and unresponsive in his room lying in his bed.

"The paramedics called and arrived and pronounced him stiff and rigid and they didn't even perform CPR, and at 7:45 he was pronounced dead."

Clyburn said that one of the reasons the family chose Las Encinas was her son's admiration for Pinsky after watching the first season of "Celebrity Rehab."

"I picked it because of a couple of things, one of which was the professional people who were experts in chemical dependency, and our son had been watching Dr. Drew Pinsky's program on TV and was very impressed with his level of success," she said. "He was considered a national expert. "

"I think Dr. Drew is responsible for the quality of care on that unit and he should have known that there needed to be corrections made," said Clyburn, who said she plans to sue the hosptial for malpractice.

"I hold him responsible for my son's death, yes."

Dr. Sober companion is against this method of placing one vulnerable drug addict in a room with other drug addicts. This method was made popular by 12 step programs such as AA and NA.

Dr. Sober companions method of total abstinence from drugs and alcohol as well as complete removal from enablers, is the only sure way to keep an addict alive.

Dr. Sober companion also provides 24 hour supervision, which prevents suicide attempts, and self destruction activities. Dr. Sober Companion could have saved the life of DJ AM. Its to late for him, but it is not to late for your son or daughter.

Another reason that group therapy (12 step and rehab clinics / hospitals) don't work.

"Las Encinas layout makes it harder to watch patients," said Gatlin. "There are a lot of little buildings on the grounds, and when people are that vulnerable you need to be watching them closely."Pinsky acknowledged that the expansive facility does lead to what he referred to as "challenges" for the unit managers. "It's for sure a challenge on my unit in terms of keeping drugs out," said Pinsky. "But that's a challenge of any chemical dependency program -- it's just an extra one at Las Encinas. Where you find addicts, you find drugs. But we are hypervigilant."

Dr. sober companion is all about giving a client his full attention and a one on one approach, and removing all enablers. In sharp contrast, Dr. drew Pinsky admits the failures of rehab facilities like his, have problems keeping drugs out. He continues to add: Where you find addicts, you find drugs. He states: "that's a challenge of any chemical dependency program". Dr. Sober Companion clarify's: "It should be corrected that it is a challenge to any group rehab facility and not a one on one approach of sober companions like dr. sober companion. The challenge dr. pinsky has is created when the motive is greed in filling the beds with addicts, instead of increasing the work and decreasing the amount of patients treated nat the same time.

self confidence respect and success were not enough for DJ AM adam michael goldstein

Dead at 36
adam michael goldstein
drug overdose

DJ AM had self confidence

DJ AM had respect

DJ AM had success

DJ AM had luck
“Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.”

DJ AM last words... (via twitter)
“New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”5:57 PM Aug 25th

All this was not enough for DJ AM adam michael goldstein.
dr. sober companion could have saved dj am's life!

dr. sober companion is trying to sort out the death of 36 year old, adam michael goldstein aka DJ AM, and I am in disbelief, because know matter how many obstacles in life that was blocking adam michael goldstein aka DJ AM, he got through it, with astonishing success.

Because this is a sober companion blog, and we work on 100% abstinence of drugs and alcohol, and a complete removal of all enablers, we must ask the questions:

Was this a drug overdose at the hands of an over prescribing dr. feelgood medical prescription?

Was this suicide by drug overdose?
We know one thing, thanks to TMZ, prescription pill vials were at the scene of the death. If this was drug related, than dr. sober companion could have saved the life of another young person. Thats a fact!

1. the fat years of DJ AM
DJ AM underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery, which made him thin. While a fat person who instantly becomes thin, can have severe psychological problems, he appeared to overcome that obstacle in life. Although he still ate like a fat person, purchasing oreo cookies, frosted flakes, regular coca cola, cheese wiz, on a trip to a local grocery store. DJ AM was once quoted as saying: “I have to remind myself that I'm a fat crackhead who’s lucky to be alive.”

2. the drug addict alcoholic DJ AM
DJ AM was once quoted about kicking his drug addiction and alcoholism: “I no longer needed a trophy girlfriend or drugs to feel good about myself. It’s been nine and a half years since I’ve had a drink or taken drugs. But every day I have to remind myself that no matter how much time I have behind me, I’m still a drug addict. At any given moment, I’m five seconds away from walking up to someone, grabbing their drink out of their hand and downing it. And if I do that, within a week, tops, I’ll be smoking crack.” DJ AM sounds like a member of AA or NA, in that he still classifies himself as a drug addict, even though he is recovering. dr. sober companion wants to remind the parents of drug addicts and alcoholics seeking help in drug and alcohol rehab, that once someone is a drug addict or alcoholic, they remain one, and that is why it is dangerous to leave your children with a drug addict or alcoholic in a drug rehab facility, no matter how expensive it may be. Sources tell TMZ prescription pill bottles were found near DJ AM's body this afternoon. A law enforcement source on scene tells TMZ a glass "crack pipe" was found in his bedroom. The pill bottles were found in the kitchen.

3. the hobnobbing years of DJ AM
DJ AM was once quoted about his girlfriends: “I no longer needed a trophy girlfriend or drugs to feel good about myself. " appearently, yes you did need something other than drugs to feel good about yourself. Breaking up is very hard and leads to depression.

4. the private jet crash of DJ AM
DJ AM had luck: “Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.” Thats why dr. sober companion felt, if you have a man that is this lucky, to cheat death, that he could accomplish anything in life. Unfortunately, guilt is very strong, and the death of 4 people on the same flight, may have been to much to handle. Parents can enable their children and unknowingly push their children to near death drug overdoses with their own brand of guilt. Sometimes you need to hire dr. sober companion to remove the enablers, and poisonous people from your childrens lives, including yourselves. (but not permanently)

We're also told DJ AM was having a very hard time dealing with post-traumatic stress from the plane crash he survived in September of last year.

5. the earlier suicide attempts of DJ AM
DJ AM was once quoted about his past suicide attempt: “at 24 I felt like my life was over. I went into my living room, reached into a cabinet above my TV and grabbed my gun, a loaded .22. I sat back on my heels, cocked it and put it into my mouth. I pulled the trigger. The gun didn’t go off. I thought, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m such a fucking failure I can’t even kill myself? I dropped the gun and broke down. That was the turning point in my life.” How many chances in life do people have to cheat death? If you see a destructive pattern is growing, you must take drastic steps as a parent to intercede. One way to intercede is by hiring a sober companion like dr. sober companion, who may be able to distract your child long enough to turn the corner and for them to go in a different direction then suicide.

possible causes of death that people are speculating around the internet:

coronary heart disease?
depression?
suicide?
drug overdose by an over prescribing dr. feelgood medical prescription?

Some details:

Adam Goldstein — was found dead this afternoon in New York City.Law enforcement sources tell tmz he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM.

DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days. One of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.

The friend called the police, who broke down the door and then found DJ AM’s body.

Sources said drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment. He was 36 years old.

DJ AM was a major attraction and was worth the wait of getting into wherever he was spinning. DJ AM had a unique mix of hip-hop, rock and ‘80s hits that made for a great time on the usually crowded dance floor. Even though DJ AM was not there nightly, LAX usually has a celeb or at least A-List DJ ranging from Steve Aoki to Benji Madden from Good Charlotte or Adam 12 of She Wants Revenge.

DJ AM was sought after around the entire world, and had opened a second club LAX at the luxor in las vegas. club LAX in vegas is known as the hottest club to land in Sin City, LAX Nightclub, continues to rock The Strip with unrivaled parties.

DJ AM dated socialite and reality TV star Nicole Richie and also singer/actress Mandy Moore. DJ AM also was linked to Canadian supermodel Jessica Stam. Basically, DJ AM was a bonafide pimp.

DJ AM was also a former member of the rock band, Crazy Town, known for their hit, “Butterfly”. DJ AM has also scratched on albums for Papa Roach, Madonna, Will Smith and Shifty. DJ AM has played private events for celebs like Jim Carrey, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Stiller, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson. DJ AM had recently collaborated with Travis Barker of blink-182 and +44 in several performances.

DJ AM is also an avid ’sneakerhead’ and collects a variety of athletic shoes, the majority of which are by nike. His collection of over 600 shoes, includes a pair of Nike Air Force 1 shoes that were created specifically for him, with his DJ AM logo appearing on the shoe itself.

Gastric bypass surgery:

First of all, if you didn’t know, DJ AM wasn’t always a skinny guy. Before he dated Nicole Ritchie, he was a fat guy, that underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery. I found this study online which documents my suspicions regarding high suicide rates of patients of gastric bypass/stomach stapling surgery.

October 29, 2007 — Extremely obese Pennsylvania residents undergoing weight loss surgery over a 10-year period had a higher-than-expected mortality rate from suicide, according to a new study appearing in the October issue of Archives of Surgery. The study also uncovered an excess of deaths due to coronary heart disease among these surgery patients.

The large number of deaths from suicides and drug overdoses is “a cause for concern,” the authors, led by Bennet I. Omalu, MD, from the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania, write. The fact that most of these deaths occurred at least 1 year after surgery suggests that “careful follow-up, especially the need to recognize and treat depression, should be provided for patients who have undergone bariatric (gastric bypass) surgery,” they write.

The private jet crash:

The plane that crashed, killing 4, is owned by Global Exec Aviation, a Long Beach-based charter company, and was certified to operate last year, an NTSB official said.

DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, has been released from the hospital after suffering injuries from a plane crash that killed four people last week, his rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.

“Adam Goldstein has been released from Doctors hospital,” the rep said in a statement. “While he is deeply saddened by the events he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends world wide. We ask that you continue respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends”.

Adam arrived back home on Thursday – by bus.

“That might tell you something about his desire to use or not use airplanes in the future,” Perez said.
But while DJ AM has returned, fellow passenger and TRVSDJ-AM musical collaborator, Travis Barker remains in the hospital.
“[Adam] just said to me to pray for Travis, so that makes me a little concerned that Travis’ injuries might be more severe than his were,” Perez said.

One of the first responders to the crash has said that Barker and DJ AM escaped the flaming wreckage by sliding down the jet’s wing.

“They said the plane went down. They didn’t say how or if they knew,” Lt. Jason Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department told the Associated Press. “Once it went down, they were able to slide down the wing of the plane, and they jumped on each other to put fires on each other out and rolled around on the ground.”

Shumpert said he didn’t know until later that the two badly burned men were former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein. One of their doctors at a Georgia burn hospital said he expects them to fully recover from their second- and third-degree burns.

A video of the Friday night crash scene shot from Shumpert’s police car shows an inferno next to the road, with screams ringing out above the din of sirens of ambulances and fire trucks. Shumpert said the screaming voice belonged to Barker, who was trembling and seemed to be in intense pain as he sat on the sidewalk, waiting for medical help to arrive.

“Travis, you could tell he was in pain,” Shumpert said. “He just kept saying: ‘That’s my friends in the plane, that’s my friends in the plane.’”

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have not said what caused the crash. A cockpit voice recorder revealed that crew members thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff. The Learjet shot off the end of the runway, ripped through a fence and crossed a highway before coming to rest, engulfed in flames.

NTSB officials, who have recovered pieces of tire from the runway, planned to return to Washington on Thursday. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., which made the tires, has said it is cooperating with the investigation.

“It was divine intervention that they got out,” he said. “They should be commended for being able to get out and keep their heads together.”

“Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn’t suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected,” said Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors’ Hospital in Augusta at a Sunday morning press conference.

Mullins added that recovery from such burns can take as long as a year.

A few months later he launched a lawsuit against the insurance companies that insured the pilots.

TMZ has just obtained documents from the suit DJ AM filed, and he's asking for $20 million dollars... minimum.

DJ AM wants at least $10 million in damages for medical bills, lost earnings and profits and other economic damages, and another $10 million for mental and physical pain he suffered and other "non-economic losses."
